The Benefits of Learning to Dance

When was the last time you went out dancing? How many of you have ever taken dance lessons?

After reading this post I believe you will want to dance more often because the benefits of learning to dance and to have dance education are enormous and not all people are aware of them. Dance improves our creativity, imagination, team work and helps us to learn some important academic subjects as well. Dance also helps people develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively, and here’s why:

The physical benefits of dance are obvious so I will not list them now, but the emotional, social and cognitive attributes are not so well known.

Dancing means joy, and as a teacher I rejoice with every new generation of children who discover and learn the first dance moves, every year in New York public schools.

Creative Processes which Can Help Children

In order for our children to develop a harmonious personality, it is important to help them discover and encourage them to pursue an artistic activity. We at Brighton ballet foster creativity – and teach children to express themselves  through movement of their body. Although dancing requires repetition – because practice makes you a better dancer, as we all know – the creative process becomes active and lasts during whole class: it is at its basic element the curiosity to learn everyday something new -new movements, techniques, dances and terminologies.

A Music Legend Sharing the Love for Arts

A music icon and an amazing personality, Tony Bennett is also an arts promoter.

Exploring The Arts, a foundation that he and his wife Susan have established and been running for more than ten years now, helps promoting performance arts programs in public schools, both in New York and L.A.

The 2013 evening Gala held in New York City had more that 500 guests who contributed $1 million for the foundation.

Tony and Susan are also the founders of Frank Sinatra School of thr Arts (FSSA) a public arts school located in Astoria, the birthplace of Tony Bennett.
